Bishop Kalonga Leads Thanksgiving Prayer Service at Bishop Mtekateka Secondary School

The Right Reverend Daniel Kalonga, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi, led a thanksgiving prayer service at Bishop Mtekateka Secondary School in Nkhotakota on Sunday, 3 May 2026, following the school's historic academic performance.

The school has sent 117 out of 177 students to public universities, making it the leading private secondary school in the Central East Education Division.

In his sermon, Bishop Kalonga urged students to trust God in times of trouble, emphasizing that faith is strengthened through trials. He reflected on 1 Peter 2:10, Isaiah 62:1-5, and John 14:1-14, warning against relying solely on human strength and encouraging dependence on Christ.

Addressing mental health concerns, Bishop Kalonga discouraged harmful responses such as suicidal thoughts and encouraged students to hold on to hope in God. He also commended their discipline and urged them to work hard, avoid misconduct, trust God, and strive for a wholesome and fruitful future.
